Artist: Helms Alee
Album: Sleepwalking Sailors

Pre-listening Notes: This is ex-Harkonen and if I remember correctly they did a tour with Torche. That's basically what I know about this band. Their wiki page says sludge metal, noise rock, and post-hardcore, which I'm not totally sure how those genres will mesh. We shall see!
Initial Reaction: My initial thought is this is not sludgy, but very post-hardcoreish. It's got some cool change ups in it. I'm not super sold on the vocals yet, they're a little weak. It got a little spacy and fuzzy towards the end.
Random Thoughts: Maybe the older stuff is a little more sludgy, I can hear some hints of it. But, this is more upbeat than I was expecting. Musically, it's interesting. Still having trouble with the vocalist. The drums are pretty rad. The vocals are starting to grow on me a little. It's not as heavy as I was expecting, which is I guess slightly disappointing. Some of the songs are really, really good. I keep coming back to the drumming. Okay, the song Fetus. Carcass. the vocals finally caught on for me. I think I need to give this a couple more listens now that at the almost end of the album things start clicking.
Final Reaction: It took me a while for this to get me, but once it did I was really enjoying it. I will need to give this another listen to really grasp it, but I can see myself getting more into this band.
Final Grade: 6.5/10
